Link Policy

The following criteria are designed so that links on my web pages can remain appropriate to the topic at hand while being useful for the page's visitors. Links should be functionable to any user who do not enable nonfree (or any) JavaScripts on his/her web browser. As per the web page footer, this policy may be used by others as well, as doing so will help make for a better web for us all.

Links should be accessible without you needing to identify yourself (for example: monetary subscription or login wall). In cases I consider to be very important, I may make a case-by-case basis to link somewhere that normally requires a login or identification though, but tools typically exist that can help you bypass that login requirement.

Links to social media sites are usually avoided, as links to posts on them tend to break quickly, have a required login wall, create a "shadow profile" on you, or any combination of these and other issues. I will make exceptions though in important-enough circumstances.

Pages that focus on videos should also be avoided for time reasons, but bandwidth use is another concern due to metered or limited-speed network connections. If I have not seen a video, I cannot promote it.
