Flan at the University of Akron College of Business

For this guide, we will be using a modified ASUS CN60 computer and the Debian GNU/Linux operating system. The installation process for digital signage computers that will run Debian GNU/Linux is described on the Flan setup page, but will be mentioned here as well for documentation purposes. Much of the work that needs done after installing Debian is done for you via the use of some Bash scripts. This guide will go over the steps you will need to do still.

Please note that the College of Business has various aspects pre-configured for its use. You only need to follow the Debian installation portion of that page.

Follow the steps outlined here. Once the system has booted for the first time, log into root and run wget https://www.aperture.akron.oh.us/~coblabs/cal/setup.bash -O- | bash The script has been tested to function as-is on Debian GNU/Linux starting with version 8. Unless extra hardware issues are present, Flan should load within seconds, depending on hardware speeds.
